Equine Studies

Discover how working with horses can build emotional resilience, confidence, and practical skills in a calming, supportive environment.
What We Do
We strengthen and develop emotional bonds and self-esteem through learning to care for horses. Students experience a therapeutic programme that aids emotional growth, learning, and healing, delivered in a natural, laid-back environment on our 25-acre farm in East Boldon.
During the initial week-long placement, students:
- Learn all aspects of health and safety around horses.
- Take part in sensory activities involving new smells, sights, and the opportunity to touch and eventually ride our horses when ready.
- Develop a sense of calm and focus through hands-on tasks that help manage hyperactivity and improve mood.
- Engage in fun, practical tasks that encourage verbal communication and direct instruction to the horses.
This week sets each child up for success, preparing them for progression onto the Level 1 or Level 2 Equine Health and Management Course in Stable Management.
